This is a recipe that fits perfect on my gardening site not only because it is green but because it reminds me of one of my favorite garden shrubs. Tonight we are celebrating on #gardenchat ( the Twitter based chat forum) with a good ol’ fashion #cookieparty. Everyone is encouraged to share their favorite cookie so I decided to share our families favorite treat during the Holiday season. I’ve been making this cookie since I was in grade school and I treasure being able to share this treat with my children. I hope you will enjoy it with your family as well.

Weekend late mornings have always been special in our home. One of the highlights that help start the day is enjoying the extra time with family and friends to whip up something yummy from the garden to kitchen using a recipe from the family traditions scrapbook. This collection of recipes gathered in an office binder includes the original recipes from the first meal I cooked up in my very first apartment kitchen at collage to meals I enjoy with my children today. Today I’m sharing an old recipe made new. In this Egg Bake creation I’m using home grown herbs and a few farm fresh eggs to recreate an old family favorite meal.

After the potatoes were harvest in one of the raised beds outside of the greenhouse in Mid-July I decided to put some pumpkin and squash plants in it’s place. Every year I plant my pumpkins early and I’m not able to use them for Halloween. This year I had a huge green pumpkin in late October because the seeds I used for pumpkins were the WORLDS LARGEST Pumpkin variety. Next year I’ll have to start those seeds I saved in mid-June. I had no idea what kind of autumn squash seeds I planted. As the vine grow it gently wrapped around in the raised bed and under the leaves were these pretty little squashes. All it took was 1 tweet out to my Twitter friends to find that these were Delicata Squash. After the harvest a good friend of mine emailed me the recipe for this creamy soup that was totally amazing on a cool November evening. I share the recipe on a separate page located under the top image.
While in Little Rock for the Garden2Blog event with P.Allen Smith I was asked to share a quick tip about gardening. The first thing that came to mind was something super easy and fun for all ages to grow.
You don’t need soil, just a little bit of love to grow yummy sprouts in your kitchen or garden. I share how-to tips at this blog entry all about my first try at growing sprouts.

Easy and fresh are a given when you grow your own herbs. One of the easiest herbs to grow in the summer garden is basil. I want to share with you a quick and extremely easy recipe that you are going to love.
Why is it that the temperature drops and my mouth begins watering for some yummy autumn harvest treats from the garden? Today is a tad below normal in temperature and I’m looking at my pumpkin plants longing for them to be ready to harvested. That just isn’t going to happen in my raised bed for another few weeks as planned planting this early summer has these Autumn favorites blooming just in time for Halloween decorating. To cure that ‘salivating’ going on I’m digging through my pantry looking for some quick fix pumpkin bread mix. As luck has it my friend Jess tweets me to inform me there is a pumpkin sitting on my front porch. A gift from their early harvest and about to be made into some pumpkin bread in my kitchen this morning.
Like most mornings I’m documenting my growing experience using tools like Twitter and Instagram sharing what is growing on in my garden. I happen to share photos of the pumpkin bread I had just made and received some awesome suggestions on what to add to this mix. I can’t wait to try some of these suggestions in my next batch of pumpkin bread.
