I find it hard to believe that we are already on the second day of the work week. The days are just flying by as I spend most of the daylight hours out in the garden. What a fabulous season it is turning out to be. I knew this morning that I was going to share the Passion Bloom in the image above for #bloom_tuesday.
Most of the day I shared blooms via Twitter using my cell phone. WHY you may ask? Not only am I addicted to building my twitter network by attracting others who enjoy sharing the world of garden but I love to share my neck of the woods. Do a search for #bloom_tuesday and you will find my shares.

Passion Flower Vine that climbs the trellis on the pond deck.
This vine is new to my garden. It was a gift from my hubby on our 19th Wedding Anniversary this past May. We spent the day touring the Cleveland Botanical Gardens and a few Garden Centers in the Cleveland area. This was a vine we found at Petitti Garden Center in Avon Lake, Ohio. One of the helpful staff saw us checking this climber out and offered some advice. If it weren't for her telling us about this fabulous tropical vine I don't think we would have purchased it. It is growing in full sun on the gazebo deck near our pond. I will bring it into the greenhouse before the winter arrives.
Here is a short video I put together featuring some of my favorite images from our trip to the Cleveland Botanical Garden in May 2010.
I also want to note that I have been fertilizing this bloom with Haven Brand Compost Tea. Be sure to check out what organic fertilizer can do for your garden at Authenitic Haven Brand Natural Brew.

Happy Mon-Day-Lily
This is one of my favorite spots to find the daylily all summer long in my garden.... Under the willow tree.

It is humid and hot like the summer months should be. This was a fun break from the weeding in my garden. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Thank you for stopping by. -Bren
Making the Herb Oils 1st

I have yet to create & share a video share from Garden to Kitchen! I love sharing favorite recipes prepared from the veggies and herbs that we grow here in the garden. I was hesitating to post this video because it is not exactly what I had in mind being choppy. I was rushed with the thunderstorm that was heading our way while taping. However, everyone has to start somewhere and there are some useful tips in this share.

In this recipe share you will need 8 oz. Extra Virgin Olive Oil and your favorite herbs. SUPER EASY to create for any home grown salad!
What are your favorite herbs? Have you used them in this oil dressing recipe before?
Misfit in the Garden
I do believe I have another mislabeled beauty blooming in my garden. This Dahlia was labeled 'Tequila Sunrise' but it doesn't look like the image on the package. What is up with that? Tequila or not I am loving the bloom and learning from the beauty. This may just be my favorite capture so far from my garden. Click on the image above for a closer view of this bloom.
Anyone up for some detailed information about growing in a greenhouse during the summer months? I am experimenting with this experience and man is it 'hot! I have some fun shares coming up including succulents and tropical! I will be sharing this week so be sure to stop back if you thought greenhouses in the cooler Midwest zones were only for winter use.
First Fertilize Friday Summer 2010
Oak Leaf and its' fabulous huge sweet scent blooms make it the perfect addition to any garden landscape. This box has gone Crazy with P.W. Red Robin Grass and my zinnias I grew from seed.
It is hard to believe it is officially summer in my neck of the woods. My, how time does fly when you are having fun! This has been a busy season with the first year with a greenhouse and all the new landscape projects going on in our garden. NOT TO MENTION the containers and veggies in the ground we have to maintain. The heat and storms we have been experiencing has been 'burning me out' to some degree but I have been able to live by the rule of 'you do what you can do' and it is all good!

The Images above are two of the topics you will find in the video I share for todays Fertilize Friday!
You all know I love to put together little videos from my neck of the woods. I'm happy to share this short video from the back of our home in the greenhouse project. In this video you will see my window box filled with Proven Winners and some of the wonderful blooms that arrived just in time for fertilize Friday.
Blogging is sharing what is important to the writer. It is about real people sharing what matters in their life. One of my goals with my gardening experience this year has been to keep things as natural as I can. WHY? Because I try to follow the same principles in my life with my health. Isn't it better to use what God has provided us with in nature? In my shares today I want to note that the blooms are being feed by Grand Haven compost tea bags. The product is easy to use and provides any gardener with a natural alternative to growing healthier veggies and blooms. I hope you will stop by Annies' site by clicking her logo to the right to check out her selection of green products. Annie has become a good friend of mine encouraging and sharing ways to keep things natural and healthy in the garden.
Wishing you all a very happy and safe weekend – Bren in the BGgarden
Baby Bunnies Have Arrived!

On Saturday one of our Netherland Dwarf senior does' gave birth to four healthy new kits. IF you are not familar with rabbit-lingo 'kit' means 'babies'. I'm super excited to share some photos of the new babies with you today. It is amazing that they are showing fur color at such a young age. They appear to be healthy little bunnies.

In the image above on the right top you will see inside the nesting box. The bottom right image is the mommy watching on as we remove the box to check the kits out. The Mommy bunnies name is 'Baby'. She is the sweetest little critter ever. Every day when I walk through the rabbitry to water the herbs and veggies growing in the greenhouse she stands on her back paws just waiting for me to pet her!
Pet rabbits are a wonderful addition to any home and garden. They make wonderful pets and their waste makes wonderful compost that is easy to use in any garden. The benefits from owning a rabbit for your garden and the green aspect is unbelievable. The compost they produce breaks down quick enough to use almost immediately. I would recommend a smaller breed like the Netherland Dwarf. This variety eats less (up to 2 oz. a day) and can live comfortably in a small space. Our Rabbitry is attached to the greenhouse where we raise any where from 15 -25 rabbits each year. We not only enjoy the company of our rabbits we also breed them for competition showing. Below is a slide show I put together featuring a few of our favorite images. Please feel free to contact me if you would like more information about owning your own rabbit.

I hope you have a fabulous time with whatever you do with your time this first weekend of Summer. Happy Digging from my garden in the Midwest -Bren
