It would appear I am stuck in a ‘box’ loaded with memories of last weekends trip to the Chicago Flower & Garden Show. It is one time I can honestly say I don’t mind NOT thinking ‘out of the box’. Today my goal is to share what I loved most about this inspiring visit.
It is no wonder I found inspiration to continue on with my sharing in the garden world after a trip to the windy city. After a fairy tale worthy trip to Ireland in December things had just not ‘popped’ for me in the sharing department. Now don’t begin to think I have betrayed my home state of Ohio for not mentioning their Home & Garden Shows I attended in Cleveland and Columbus. I love my state and had a wonderful time sharing the experience with family and friends. Chicago holds a special place in my heart that even my home state can’t take away. It is where I found most of my creativity in my collage days while studying downtown in this city that never sleeps.
The photo to the left was taken by a dear friend of mine as we arrived for a month of study at School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) in 1989.
There is no wonder I found beauty on and off the canvas at the show. Here are a few of the fun displays by local Chicagoan that inspired me in the collage below.

I found myself in this display a few times. Every time I walked past it I had to stop and walk through it again. Where did they come up with these ideas. I loved how not only could you walk through the gardens in the Chicago Home and Garden Show but you could also walk through the art.
A Creative Veggie / Bloom Garden that allowed the show goers to experience the garden.

More of my favorite things from the Chicago Show would include the MARKET PLACE! All the items for sale were in the market area of the show. They were neatly arranged and mostly following the theme of FLOWERS or Gardening… gotta love it!
One of the highlights of my trip was actually meeting one of my favorite bloggers. Mr.BrownThumb who shares a fun review highlighting the show from his home town of Chicago. It is fun looking at his review and seeing all the things I missed!

That’s what I love about reading all the bloggers’ accounts of the show. Everyone saw different things! Like, I totally missed the American Girl doll garden. I would have loved that, because my girls had/have those dolls. I missed the wicked witch’s feet, too! Different eyes see different things and it’s wonderful! Thanks for sharing your images, Bren.
Thank you so much Kylee! I need to stop over and see what you caught at the show. I know you all must have had a fabulous weekend with all those Garden Writers!
Thanks again!
I’d love to go to the Chicago Garden show one of these days. It is amazing how many times you can look at a display and see new things. I love the creativity of those who design the gardens.
ROBIN… THANK YOU for stopping by. I just love the birds and blooms you have been sharing on your blog. I don’t get as much traffic now that I moved over to this new space.
ALWAYS a joy to find you have left a comment.
Happy Spring
All those bright colors are just what I needed. We are still covered in snow and plant deprived. Wishing we had a garden show here.

Nice and beautiful garden, unfortunately most flowers in my hand will not stay long
but i love flowers. Greetings
Wow, it looks like a great place to be. Lots of beautiful plants and things, and colours.
You have some amazing photos from the show, Bren. Itchin’ to get outside but the weather says otherwise!
It would be so nice to attend a show like this one. Thanks for sharing Bren.
Hi Bren. I have been loving viewing the surrounding garden shows through all of the bloggers eyes that have been able to attend. It looks like both the Chicago and Fort Wayne shows were just wonderful. I may not always have time to leave a comment Bren but I am usually checking out what you are up to on your blog and in your greenhouse.
Enjoy all of the new Spring blooms,
Lona
Hi Bren~~ Looks like there was plenty of inspiration and color for the flower-starved, winter weary guests. Fun.
