I am having the time of my life right now in the Garden World and the ground in zone 5b isn’t even completely defrosted yet for planting. If everyone knew how rewarding it can be to grow your own Veggies & Blooms I think we would all have happy faces 24 /7 ! With all this garden fun going on I have so much to share but I still mange to squeeze in a quick BLOG fun event. Today is the 15 and that means we share BLOOMS. to celebrate I am sharing my Garden World.
NEW GREEN in the GREENHOUSE on March 15th
Can you imaging my surprise to find the green in the recycled egg cartons I planted new Coleus in pictured in the collage above ( bottom left). My first attempt at Swiss Chard in the Greenhouse is featured on the bottom right of the collage above. Lettuce has become my 1st choice when people ask me ‘so what can I grow?’. Lettuce comes in so many varieties, super tasty and so simple to grow.
This Lettuce is Super Sexy to me!
Guess this Bloom?
One of the highlights of owning my own Greenhouse is being a few months a head of the garden game in my neck of the woods. This bloom above is one of my MUST HAVE favorites in the summer. It is a bloom from the Citronella Geranium. This early lady is blooming like it was June in my greenhouse March 15th.
Happy Bloom Tuesday – March 15 ,2010
My prize bloom that truly celebrates Garden Bloggers Bloom Tuesday on this fifteenth day in March is this Pink Petunia. I dug her out of my landscape in October and wintered her over in the greenhouse. I think she is beeming because she survived the night the heater died and her winter home reached temperatures way below freezing for a few hours. She is cheerfully says ‘ HAPPY BLOOM TUESDAY ‘ to me and anyone who stops by my blog today. Thanks Carol at May Dreams Gardens for hosting this event each month.

Yey for lettuce! I agree with you that it’s the first thing a new gardener should grow. Easy, tons of variety, and it’s almost instant gratification. Your citronella geranium is fantastic!
YOU Totally make my day with the comments you leave on my blog. THANK YOU!!!
Is your mystery flower a Pelargonium? Mine huge potted beast which spends the winters inside and the summer outside has started blooming again after taking the winter off. I was too excited about having outdoor blooms to post a photo of it.
The ‘mystery flower’ is from my Geranium – Citronella. I don’t know they fancy name for her but she sure says ‘HAPPY BLOOM DAY ‘ to me! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I miss all my blogger friends since I moved to my new site.
Gorgeous! Totally jealous of that peony. And I don’t even like peonies that much! Time for spring clearly
aloha bren,
never thought lettuce could be sexy, but they do look lushious…i do love geraniums, but its too wet in my area for them to be happy…oh well we can’t have everything…happy bloom day
It’s as exciting to see seedlings as blossoms. That pink petunia is a beauty. Petunias are pretty tough. Happy Bloom Day.
Happy BLOOM day to you all! THANK YOu so much for stopping by my summer share via the greenhouse! Off to see what you have to share this Bloom Day!
I’ll be looking at lettuce in a whole new way now! lol I am just dreaming of the day I have a greenhouse…..I can imagine the joy it brings you..your enthusiasm shows.
I love Petunias and yours is just lovely :^)
I need to get some lettuce seed. I think I remember having some already, I need to check and see. I enjoy seeing your early blooms and everything you are growing . I always start petunias from seed, but have never thought to dig them up and overwinter them. Looks like yours did amazing in the greenhouse.
(Getting up right now to go check on that lettuce seed).
Robin… super simple to grow. I can’t wait to see what you share this spring from your garden because your blog is super fun too!

Great Info Peter – I usually get asked where to find what ZONE I’m in!
I once worked for a French gardener at Mohonk Mountain House NY – we seeded the 20,000 annuals that we grew there!
each day we would prepare the seed flats, apply the seeds, top off with soil that we strained through a kitchen sieve …and of course wist them…he was trained in Paris, wen tto work at Versailled then came here…
I am so blessed to have worked for him..of course he couldn’t understand why a landscape archieture graduate wanted to work in a greenhouse but to me it wa the best job in the world….
snapdragons were the hardest seeds to grow……
Thanks for stopping by Jan! Snapdragons are growing right now in my greenhouse. I stared them just after Christmas and now they are about to bloom. I love hearing about your gardening experience. MAYBE that is why your blog is one of my favorites to visit! Happy almost Spring!
Well, hello to Miss Pink Petunia. She’s a beauty. And Super Sexy Lettuce is not too shabby either.
