A brew my plants will enjoy!

Another snow day in my neck of the woods with the blustery wind blowing so bad that I didn’t dare wonder to far from the warm house.   Over the weekend I was fortunate enough to be one of the few customers at William Sonoma to snatch up a  mulling spice ball that are hard to come by in my area.  I hope at one of my up coming Garden Show trips to the larger cities I see a Teavana shoppe to stock up on my favorite floral blends since I have been enjoying them tremendously this winter.   Today was another hibiscus ,blueberry mixed with  green tea afternoon.  It is a SUPER YUMMY brew I put together with the nice ladies at Teavana in Detroit this past December during the Holiday Green Tour.

As I sat and sipped on my tea and enjoyed the wonderful selection of lettuce seeds  featured in the Veseys Seed Catalog I couldn’t help but wonder how my bunny brew was doing on the new seedlings I had planted for #SuperSowSunday.     Rummaging through the mail for the day I noticed another yellow envelope addressed to me!

Authentic Haven Organic Tea It was an efficiently packages natural brewing tea bag from my new friend on Twitter , Annie Haven.  She is the owner of Authentic Haven Brand Natural Brew  in San Juan Capistrano, California.  At first glance I couldn’t help but think ‘ wow… this is going to be some container of sun tea!’ When I quickly noticed the label had a cow on it.  You can’t tell that it has natural cow manure in it because it doesn’t smell.   However, this tea bag goes into a 1-5 gallon container filled with water and should be left to steep for at least a day.

I can’t wait to give this ‘speciality’ tea brew a try as soon as I run out of the 5 gallon container of Bunny Brew I have  in my greenhouse from the #SuperSowSunday party. A few of the Garden Twitters’ and I are planning on doing a #SuperSowSpring on March 21.  I might just save this goodie for that day so I will be able to document the developement of the new seedlings easier.   I will keep you posted on how this product works on my green.

Thank you @Green Soil for the wonderful gift for my plants that you know I love so much.   Please stop by Annies  site  at Authentic Haven Brand Natural Brew.

  1. Yep. I’ll look forward to your post on this, Bren. I made a batch of “compost tea” from a recipe I received on line last summer. However, it was way toooo strong for some of my plants…. (Perhaps I didn’t dilute it enough!) I’m very anxious to see how a couple of my bushes will make out this Spring!

  2. What an unusual and wonderful idea to package cow manure in a teabag to make manure tea! I wonder if someone could do the same with compost and make compost teabags?

Yes Noelle – I am waiting to give this goodie a try because I have some of my own “bunny brew’ in use right now. I mixed up a 5 gallon bucket on Sunday. Works wonderful as I am sure this cow manure will too! Thanks for stopping by!

  3. No drinking the poop tea. Ick! LOL!

    • Bren says:

It would be easy to accidentally drink this flower brew…. it has no odor! However, I am unwilling to blog about what it taste like! I will have to keep this brew in the greenhouse so my thirsty family members don’t unexpectedly try it. (argg…..)

I have some Haven manure tea I got at the end of the season last year I’ve been saving for this year. I can’t smell it, but apparently my cats can because whenever I have it out, they go crazy!

When would I use it on seedlings? When they get a bit larger? I may save it and give everything a good watering once they are actually planted out in the garden.

It is funny you say your cats can smell it. I actually showed the ‘tea’ bag to my herding dog Olivia and she had no interest. Which is super weird because she loves to eat Horse pooh! @GreenSoil on Twitter ( the founder of the company) told me to use this on the seeds. You can start using this product right away. I am going to use my for #SuperSowSpring (http://www.facebook.com/pages/SuperSow-Spring/307613311620?ref=ts) on Twitter March 21. Thanks for stopping by Jenna!
